Conventional Solution
Back-up is taken by back-up media and the data is restored in case of a server failure.
|
Remote Back-up
This option is available for those practices who do not want to perform their own backup and a third party company backs-up the Practice data via the broadband connection.
|
Server Clustering
This is only suitable for large organisations and corporate practices due to the high cost involved. An additional server is put in place to cluster the data with the main server.

| Data Transfer Options | ||
| Merge Replication is used to mirror data to a central server. This process eliminates the need to rely on a constant broadband connection as the databases mirror each other and if broadband fails, the user continues to use the application uninterrupted, from a local server and when the broadband connection is restored, the databases catch up. Some practices require data replication across the sites as a contingency plan against broadband failure. | ||
